BATT UHP CS: New Hyper Sport Tyre in South Africa
Testing for STC 650 and SSP 300 Championships WPMC SBK Series
"The grip is unbelievable. Once I got the tyres warmed up and the pressures dialed in, I was able to push harder into corners than I’ve ever done before. The front was planted but did lose grip initially when hard trail braking into corners until we dropped the pressures. The front end feels solid, and I had complete confidence on the brakes. Same on the rear. I had movement on the rear out of corners on acceleration, and I could feel that this was due to the rear spring being too stiff, but once we reduced the pressures, this issue disappeared.
I managed to set a consistent 53.6 around the RSR short circuit. This was my first time using the BATT UHPs, and to say I was nervous about trying something new is an understatement. But that feeling soon faded away, and I quickly adapted and gelled with the UHPs. These tyres won’t be far off their competitors with proper setup and riding time. The price point is the best part of these tyres, and the grip is just an added bonus. Even after 20 laps, I didn’t notice any drop in performance. I’m really happy with how the tyres held up."

"These tires are fantastic. I’ve been racing on the preferred Pirelli’s for a while now, but after fitting the UHP Cut-Slicks, I was pleasantly surprised. My personal best lap time beforehand was a 2.06.0 on the Pirelli’s. In only two sessions on a dirty track due to construction, I managed to set a 2.08.5, with an ideal lap of 2.07.9 before the bike’s exhaust broke and we had to call it a day. No setup was done, and we had a new stiffer rear spring. With proper setup and track time, I’m positive I could get close to my PB time. The rear tyre, in particular, feels planted, and I could feel the grip even as I was coming out of the tighter corners, especially once we dropped the pressures. The consistency is amazing—no major degradation even after a full session. Plus, for the price/grip factor, they’re unbeatable."
